Safe4Summer 2020 is now live

Safe4Summer is an annual partnership campaign which takes place over the summer months – involving Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), Greater Manchester Police (GMP), Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), local councils, plus others – with the ultimate aim to keep the young people safe and provide information to their parents and carers.
Our partnership work aims to protect young people in Greater Manchester through education, and by encouraging young people to keep themselves safe while also adhering to social distancing restrictions that remain in place as we combat COVID-19.
Following evaluation of last year’s summer campaign, we will focus on the following three main objectives (while following Government guidance to help stop the spread of the virus):
- Keep our communities, including young people, safe while exercising around water and educate them about water safety
- Reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour, including deliberate fires started by young people, attacks on firefighters and hoax 999 calls
- Help to make the roads of Greater Manchester safer by educating people of the dangers
This year we have something new for young people across Greater Manchester to get involved with – a mini creative project. You will find more about this on the ‘Safe4Summer activities’ page.
Also, we are running our competition until August 31 – which this year is an interactive quiz aimed at different age groups – for a chance to win an iPad. (Click on red box below for more details and to get involved).
