Stoke Recovery Service – Communication Support Groups

Wigan Stroke Recovery Service, have now changed how their Communication Support Groups are run. They are now making their Stroke Communication Support Sessions more accessible. They are delivering the service in various locations throughout the Wigan Borough.
These sessions are aimed at Stroke Survivors wanting to access support and information after stroke with communication difficulties.
This will cover topics such as, what a stroke is, side effects, communication issues and building confidence after stroke. They will be delivering information, education, and activities to support stroke recovery and peer support.
There is also one to one communication support for stroke survivors available which can be delivered in their own homes.
They also provide person-centred support via telephone or face to face on discharge from hospital to all stroke survivors and carers as part of the stroke pathway.
