Young Carers attend Young Carer Champion training

Young Carers attend Young Carer Champion training on the 18th and 19th July at the Kingswood Centre, Conisbrough.

Our three Young Carer Champions, Danni, Beth and Alban undertook workshops in Team Building, Mental Health Awareness, Journey Mapping, Wellbeing, Digital Story Telling, Filming and Editing, Interviewing and use of the Makewaves site.

This training has been developed to support Young Carer Champions campaigning to:

  • raise public awareness;
  • promote positive attitudes towards young carers, family illness and disability;
  • improve and standardise local and national Young Carer identification systems;
  • support whole family assessment and services;
  • reduce the number of families relying on children to provide inappropriate levels of care.

The Young Carer Champions have a range of opportunities available to them in the coming months and can choose to take a staring roll in front of the camera; work behind the scenes or take on a more traditional lower key campaigning role focussing on engaging with schools, local services and politicians.
